Dr. Randy Birken – Founder/Owner of Birken Medical Aesthetics
Dr. Birken graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972 and earned his medical degree from Boston University in 1976. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in 1980 while serving as chief resident at Ben Taub General and Jefferson Davis Hospital with rotations at The Methodist Hospital, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, and Women’s Hospital of Texas. Board certified in 1982 and re-certified in 1995, he is currently a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Birken received a Masters Degree in Liberal Arts from Houston Baptist University in 2000 and has taught undergraduate Composition and Rhetoric at Lone Star College.
In addition to his private practice in gynecology, uro-gynecology, and laparoscopic pelvic surgery, he completed age management medicine training and certification with the Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation and further postgraduate training in aesthetic medicine. He has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and is licensed in both Texas and Colorado. He has done post graduate training with the American College for The Advancement of Medicine, Age Management Medicine Group, Cenegenics Medical Institute, National Society of Cosmetic Physicians, and the Grossman Wellness Center. Dr. Birken is certified in Advanced Bioidentical Hormones with Worldlink Health and is a physician mentor with BioTe Medical.
He has been published in both medical and non-medical publications including the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ob-Gyn News, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, the Archives of Internal Medicine, the Journal of Graduate Liberal Studies, and Dermanities.
An avid road and mountain cyclist, skier, and proponent of fitness training, Dr. Birken embraces a healthy diet and lifestyle and promotes these concepts to his patients. He has participated in medical missionary projects in Guatemala and volunteers at a clinic for indigent patients in The Woodlands. He and his wife have three sons, four step-children, three granddaughters, and one grandson.
Dr. Carrie Blades grew up in Atascocita, Texas and graduated from Humble High School. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeast Louisiana University, Dr. Blades attended Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport for medical school and completed an Emergency Medicine residency in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Blades started her transition into bio-identical hormone replacement in 2015 and will become certified in Advanced Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy Certification through Worldlink Medical. She is a certified practitioner for pellet insertion with BioTe Medical.
She and her husband, Larry, and two children, Ally and Andrew, live in Cypress, Texas.
Diane is a native of Houston and has been a women’s health nurse practitioner for many years. She received both her R.N. and Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. As a reproductive health practitioner, Diane embraces the concepts of wellness and hormone optimization while promoting preventative health and education for both men and women. She, her husband, and two sons live in The Woodlands.
Kelly Schumann, RN, BSN received her nursing degree from the University of Texas Arlington and has practiced as an ER nurse as well as a nurse aesthetician.
Kelly is skilled in all facial treatments but specializes in dermal fillers. Also, she is a trainer in facial injectables for clinicians as well.
An outdoor enthusiast, she embraces all mountain activities. She is certified in the use of Sculptra® as well as all dermal fillers.
Tammi started working as a medical assistant for Dr. Birken in August of 2013, and currently has over 15 years of experience in this field. Now living in Spring, Texas, Tammi is a native Houstonian, married with a daughter and two sons. She and her husband are huge Texans fans and love to travel.
