What is a whole foods and a plant based diet?

Basic concept include eating only whole foods and plants – no fish, chicken, meat, refined carbohydrates, dairy, or processed foods. Spare use of nuts, avocados, and caffeinated beverages is allowed but no refined flour or sugar.
“It sounds very restrictive,” Dr Birken said. “But by lowering the body’s inflammation and hence reducing the risk for chronic diseases, possibly reversing certain conditions, and lowering body fat is worth the change in your lifestyle.”
